The left picture is a sample section of body sheet metal parts of a main engine factory. The customer requires automatic inspection of interference and gap between body sheet metal parts to meet the requirements of body welding, anti-corrosion, CAE analysis and other products.The areas in the blue circle are difficult to detect with the naked eye, and even if they are detected, they are difficult to measure.Especially the E block.

Area A -- minimum clearance between parts without matching requirements between sheet metal parts

Zone B -- distance and interference between welding surfaces

Area C - sheet metal welded edge lap width shall be even.

Area D -- when sheet metal is overlapped, the clearance between the end of part/rounded end and the rounded end of another part shall be even

Area E -- minimum clearance with rounded corners

Area F -- whether the axis of the standard part and the hole are concentric/there can be no included Angle

The application of DFM enables customers to reject the inefficient work of using human flesh to find the positions to be checked and judge qualified/unqualified.In particular, technology that automates the extraction of non-conforming parts without missing a single detail can contribute to the high efficiency of body modeling quality.
